Finasteride.com is a medically reviewed health information resource dedicated to providing accurate, current, and evidence-based information about finasteride (Propecia, Proscar) for patients, caregivers, and clinicians. Every piece of content on this site is subject to the standards described below.
Our Medical Review Board
All clinical content on Finasteride.com is reviewed and approved by our three-person medical review board before publication. Board members are named, credentialed, and independently practicing clinicians in the United States. Each member’s full credentials, NPI number, state license, institutional affiliations, and PubMed/ORCID profile are published on their individual reviewer page.
The board comprises:
- Board-certified urologist — reviews content covering benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH), prostate health, sexual side effects, and urological uses of finasteride
- Board-certified dermatologist — reviews content covering androgenetic alopecia (AGA), hair loss treatments, topical finasteride, and dermatological applications
- PharmD (clinical pharmacist, men’s health/dermatology focus) — reviews drug mechanism, pharmacokinetics, dosing, drug interactions, and safety content
Each reviewer has signed a contract that includes named succession provisions to ensure continuity of the review process. Our review board operates independently of our commercial relationships.
Content Creation Process
Our 17-step content pipeline ensures every page meets institutional standards before publication:
- Keyword and SERP analysis to identify genuine patient information needs
- Clinical source identification (5–10 primary sources per article, minimum)
- Outline review by the relevant board member (Tier 0/1/2 content)
- Draft by a medical writer with PharmD, RN, or advanced clinical training background
- Citation metadata verification — every author name, journal, year, volume, page, and statistical claim is independently confirmed against the primary source
- Fact-check audit against FDA prescribing information and current clinical guidelines
- Final board sign-off and digital signature by the relevant board member(s)
- Quality review for completeness, readability, and patient-first language
- Schema markup and structured data implementation
- Staging review and QA before publication

Source Standards
Finasteride.com uses a four-tier source hierarchy. Every factual claim must be traceable to a Tier 1 or Tier 2 source.

We do not cite Wikipedia, press releases, or commercial brand websites as sources for clinical claims. We do link to Wikipedia’s entity page in schema markup for machine-readable entity disambiguation — this is different from citing Wikipedia as a source.
Update and Freshness Policy
Medical information changes. Our freshness commitments:
- Monthly: Our top 20 pages receive a
lastRevieweddate update and integration of any new published data or guideline changes from the preceding month - Quarterly: Full SERP and content audit on all Tier 0 and Tier 1 pages; structured data validation
- On new evidence: Any peer-reviewed study materially affecting finasteride safety, efficacy, or labeling triggers a review of relevant pages within 7 days of publication
- On FDA label changes: Relevant pages are updated within 72 hours of a label change
Every page displays a visible “Last Reviewed” date. The schema dateModified and reviewedBy fields are updated to match.
Conflict of Interest Policy
Medical reviewers and writers disclose any financial relationships with pharmaceutical companies, telehealth providers, or other commercial entities relevant to the content they review. Disclosures are maintained on file and reviewers with active COI on a specific topic are recused from reviewing that content.
Commercial relationships (affiliate partnerships, advertising, or sponsored content) are disclosed on the relevant pages and in our Affiliate Disclosure. Commercial relationships never influence the clinical content of any page. Our medical review board operates independently of our commercial team.
Corrections Policy
We are committed to correcting errors promptly and transparently. If you believe content on this site contains a factual error:
- Contact us at [corrections@finasteride.com] with the specific URL, the claim you believe is incorrect, and your proposed correction with source
- Our editorial team will review the submission within 5 business days
- If an error is confirmed, the correction will be made and a brief “Correction” note added to the page noting what changed and when
- Major corrections (factual errors that could affect patient safety decisions) are escalated immediately to the review board and addressed within 24 hours
